This article was in the South Shore section of the Boston Globe this past Sunday. The article covers the emergence of online classes for public high schools in Massachusetts. I am proud to say that I just finished teaching my first class (Sports in American Society) this year and can't wait to begin teaching the course next year as VHS (Virtual High School) migrates from BlackBoard to Desire2Learn.
Teaching the course was a fantastic experience professionally and personally. I learned how to manage 25 students from all over the country without any face to face interaction and turn the 15 week course into a meaningful learning experience. I was also able to develop a friendship with Nancy Dawson, Plymouth Public Schools Site Coordinator for VHS. Along with being able to teach the class, 25 Plymouth students were given seats through VHS and were able to take a multitude of classes.
